Lead On 03:01
I can’t wait to get you alone, Babe We’ll fan the fire of the love we have known When the moon and the stars in the heavens Cast their light upon your face That’s how I’ll find my way back to you And stay there with you the rest of my days Wild night calls Lead on I can’t wait to get you alone babe Our fire burns in the eye of the storm We don’t have to wander around in the darkness We’ll follow the distant beat of your drum Wild night calls Lead on Wild night calls Fleet of foot Lead me in to your quick sand, and let me go I can’t wait to get you alone, Babe We’ll fan the fire of the love we have known I still beg at the foot of your temple I hear the distant beat of your drum

He tied a hanging knot Around the wrong tree He strode into the summer night But never set me free He walked upon a lonely road But never walked alone He kept this wicked woman’s soul Inside his heart of stone Baby girl seventeen Pretty nubile Nile river queen Castle down in New Orleans And secrets buried deep In a heart of stone Don’t let me fall Onto this hard heart of stone I walked upon a lonely road And fell into the night I carry them all with me now Like devils carry light Don’t let me fall Onto this hard heart of stone

Miner Song 04:02
I don’t know, but I’ve been told A miner’s life is mighty cold Sleep outside in a stony bed Up at dawn in the freezing wind Family don’t know where I am Baby girl and a boy of ten If my dreams of them don’t kill me soon I’ll strike it rich and be home by June Home by June Pick and pan and boots and luck More dear to me than love and such Stepped off the boat and into hell But gold dust will my tears dispel I claim this corner of the earth To dig and starve and toil and hurt I’ll leave this place a wealthy man Or be buried with my miner kin
4.
I Believe 02:23
Well, I believe in the diamonds In the diamonds in the sky And I dream of fluffy clouds And little angels floating by You believe there comes a time When men must open up their minds But I believe you’d like those diamonds In the sky I believe in those diamonds In those diamonds in the sky But you’re not above denying Solid fact for pretty lies So if you join me in prayer I’ll take your soul into account And we’ll get rich Mining those diamonds in the sky If you believe In those diamonds in the sky There’s a love that’s strong enough to keep our Beating hearts entwined Cause I believe in the diamonds in the sky Well you believe in those diamonds But they’re not the kind I like I would rather have a ring With diamonds big as apple pie So you go on believing If that warms your bed at night I don’t need your silly diamonds in the sky If you believe In those diamonds in the sky There’s a love that’s strong enough to keep our Beating hearts entwined I don’t need your silly diamonds in the sky

Could have known which way to go Something ate up my breadcrumbs Then I sat there in the cold Spinning compass of my soul Could have found my own way home Felt it deep down in my bones Yet I sat there all alone Spinning compass Even god above won’t save me from the wolf Could have looked to left or right Close of day, falling night When I knew, when I saw When I cried, when I called Said if I don’t laugh now like I laughed then My whole life would just cave in Stand me up, let me go Fold my hands, step away Turn my face to the clouds Taste of earth in my mouth Wash your hands, bow your head Nothing done, nothing said
6.
This town is tough But it ain’t giving up If you ain’t left by now You won’t never leave This town has blown away In a storm of age And you and I won’t never sort it out Till our souls’ release Our town is peace This house is hard It’s made of bones and blood And like our mother’s arms once It keeps our hearts at ease And when this song is over We’ll go out to the edge of town And think about those days when We had no love and no house Our love is old now It’s full of cracks and weeds And if you walk away before I I’ll beg you back on my knees And when our song is over We’ll go out to the edge of town Finally free of earthly burdens We’ll have no need for this town
7.
No one’s gonna touch me now And I’ll just walk right out of this town You say you’re gonna work me over You’re gonna drink my blood and leave me to drown But in this mean old desert of dried up tears You can’t keep a man who’s already dead down I been dirty working That’s how I got where I am now You’d think this filth and dirty deeds Would get all over everything But the fact is I still believe In righteousness and bended knee And I’m not about to cry, beg, and plead I just ask that you let me be I been dirty working But I got by somehow And this is not about hopes and dreams Or anything else done dirt cheap It’s about a man held up high Despite all the ways I’ve been vilified I been dirty working You might think that I’m all right When you walk over me in the night I didn’t throw my life away What could anyone say about a man like me anyway I been dirty working And may god forgive me now

I Won't Know 03:10
I won’t know Which way the tide will bend In a world that’s spinning round I won’t know Which way the world will end But we got today We got today There’s a voice Out in the stormy night That calls you home That calls you home But when our time Our time has come my love I won’t know And when our time Our time has come my love To kiss this world so long, goodbye No, I won’t know Which way the world has turned I won’t know There’s a dream Still there for you and me In our hearts so tried and true We set a time We make our plans, my love But I won’t know I won’t know And when our time Our time has come my love To kiss this world so long, goodbye No, I won’t know Which way the world has turned I won’t know

about

Album title:
"Occitan Reverb" is the title of a poem written by my dear friend and favorite poet, Rodney Koeneke. It was published in his latest book, Etruria. He has graciously allowed me to reprint the poem in its entirety:

The leaf swings: I don’t hold it
it’s on to other subjects
once new, now pushed by low sighs
whose melodies are easy
I see them move in bitter air
though sweet in place and season
its leaves
that soon will prosper
the bad will be over
the sweet will enter my heart
it will be sweet there
in turn for each pain
