about

This one started out on piano but morphed in the studio into something a bit heavier. It was only after we finished the arrangement that I realized it’s about my fear of my own bad temper.

lyrics

Put on that goddamn song
The one that makes me cry
The one that brings me low
The one that gets me high

There’s a place where I go
Words fall down like neon stars
No more planes up in the sky
Gentle hugs and sassy scars

There is no tension
There is no right or wrong
Either the rats do as I say
Or they will wish they were never born

Keep the kids indoors
Time for dancing in the street
It’s gonna hurt me more than you
For me to knock you off your feet

And it comes down quick
Like an avalanche at night
Doesn’t hurt me now
I don’t want to see the light

You say it’s cold
I don’t want to fight

Put on that goddamn song
The one that struck me blind
The one that stops and starts
The one that saved my life

And it hurts me now
Like an avalanche at night
And it hurts me now
I don’t want to see the light
